Product Introduction

Electroplated Diamond Grinding Wheels

High Efficiency Metal Bond Diamond Wheels for Rough Grinding & Shaping

Product Introduction

Electroplated Diamond Grinding Wheel

Electroplated diamond grinding wheels feature high diamond exposure (70%~80%), sharp cutting edges, and simple structure. The metal bond (mainly nickel-based) securely holds diamond grains, making them ideal for rough grinding, slotting, cutting, and forming operations, especially suitable for high-efficiency processing of hard and brittle materials.

Compared to resin and vitrified bond wheels, electroplated diamond wheels offer higher grinding efficiency, faster material removal rates, and excellent chip clearance. The single-layer diamond structure provides maximum grit exposure for aggressive cutting action.

Our electroplated wheels are particularly effective for PCD/PCBN tool roughing, carbide tool slotting, ceramic cutting, and composite material trimming. The nickel bond provides excellent heat dissipation and chemical stability during grinding.

Key Advantages

High Diamond Exposure (70%-80%)

Maximum grit exposure for aggressive cutting and high material removal

Excellent Chip Clearance

Open structure prevents loading, ideal for continuous operation

Sharp Cutting Action

Single-layer diamond structure provides sharp cutting edges

Strong Bond Holding

Nickel-based bond securely holds diamond grains for long life

Simple Structure

Easy to manufacture and maintain, cost-effective solution

Versatile Applications

Suitable for various hard and brittle materials

Applications

Our electroplated diamond wheels are specifically engineered for high-efficiency rough grinding, slotting, cutting, and forming operations on ultra-hard and brittle materials. With superior chip clearance and aggressive cutting action, they are ideal for the following application categories:

Electroplated Diamond Grinding Wheel Applications

Applications of electroplated diamond grinding wheels in various industries

1. Superhard Materials & Products

  • PCD/PCBN Tools - Slotting, rough forming of polycrystalline diamond and cubic boron nitride cutting tools
  • Carbide Tools - Rough grinding of cutting edges, slotting for drills and end mills
  • Diamond Saw Blades - Repair and reshaping of diamond saw blade segments
  • Hard Alloy Molds - Contour slotting and rough forming of carbide molds

2. Ceramics & Non-Metallic Hard Brittle Materials

  • Industrial Ceramics - Cutting, slotting, rough grinding of alumina, zirconia, silicon nitride ceramics
  • Optical Glass - Cutting and rough grinding of optical glass, microcrystalline glass
  • Stone Processing - Shaped processing and engraving slotting of granite, marble
  • Ceramic Components - Processing of ceramic bearings, ceramic ferrule shapes

3. Composite Materials

  • Carbon Fiber Composites (CFRP) - Cutting, edge trimming, solving delamination and fiber pull-out issues
  • Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) - Cutting and rough trimming
  • Construction Materials - Surface grooving and slotting of concrete components, terrazzo
  • Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) - Cutting and grinding

4. Semiconductor Materials

  • Silicon Wafers - Cutting, dicing, edge chamfering rough processing
  • Sapphire Substrates - Cutting and rough shaping
  • Quartz Crystals - Cutting and rough processing
  • Gallium Nitride (GaN) Substrates - Rough shaping

Non-Applicable Scenarios

  • Not suitable for high-precision finishing/polishing - Grit distribution uniformity is lower than resin/vitrified bond wheels, resulting in higher surface roughness
  • Avoid grinding ferrous metals - Diamond has chemical affinity with iron at high temperatures, causing wheel failure
  • Not ideal for precision contour grinding - Optimized for roughing and high material removal operations

Core Advantages vs Other Bond Types

  • Higher Efficiency than Resin Bond - Faster material removal rates for rough grinding applications
  • Better Chip Clearance than Vitrified Bond - Open structure prevents loading during continuous operation
  • Lower Cost than Metal Sintered Bond - More economical for single-layer applications
  • Faster Setup than Brazed Diamond - Ready to use without special dressing requirements

Applicable Grinding Machines:

Our electroplated diamond wheels are optimized for various grinding and cutting machines:

  • CNC Tool & Cutter Grinders - For PCD/PCBN and carbide tool slotting and roughing
  • Surface Grinders - For rough surface grinding of ceramics and hard materials
  • Cut-off Machines - For cutting hard and brittle materials
  • Profile Grinders - For simple contour grinding of cutting tools
  • Slotting Machines - For groove and slot cutting operations
